The History of Singing which Neil Sorrell andI wrote for Cambridge University Press is available in a Polish translation from Astraia. This is the first time either of us has had anything translated into Polish so it's something of a landmark. Communication between CUP and Astraia hasn't been easy, and between both of them and me pretty well non-existent so it's taken almost three years for me to see a copy. Here it is...
Sadly, my knowledge of Polish is confined to greetings and menus, despite having done many gigs in Poland with the Hilliards, Gavin Bryars, Alternative History and the Dowland Project, and even been on holiday to Krakow. If any Polish speakers out there have had a chance to read it I'd love to know what they think of the translation. I've now started to feel a bit guilty about not giving more attention to Poland in the book...
I'm just starting on a new book for Yale. I'm going to try to keep the subject a secret, which may take a bit of doing as it won't be published until autumn 2026. So don't watch this space!
